President Raisi at OANA SUMMIT:

Tehran(IP)- The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran said that the media should be able to preserve and protect the independence, identity, and freedom of the nations and protect them from attacks.

Iran PressIran News: The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies is an association of news agencies from UNESCO member states in the Asia-Pacific region. It was previously known as the Organization of Asian News Agencies. It was formed in 1961 on UNESCO's initiative.

The organization covering two-thirds of the world population, now has 43 members from 35 countries in Asia and Oceania.

The OANA meeting works this year under the theme of "New Challenges for Journalism: "Technological Innovations and Issues of Trust."

Iran President Ebrahim Raisi, on Tuesday, in the 18th edition of the summit of the senior managers of the Organization of Asian and Pacific News Agencies (OANA), which was held at the Presidential Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran enumerated the characteristics and mission of the media and stated: "The mission of the media is to preserve the independence and identity of countries, especially in the region."

Stating that today we live in a world of information and communication where there are many attacks on the culture of nations, especially independent nations, he said: "Enemies want to strip countries of their identity so that there would no independent country in the world and region."

The President stressed: "In contrast to this invasion, the role of the media is very important and decisive, and the media as a position that can have several characteristics, the first characteristic of which in order to be a promising position for the people, is honesty and truth and it is time to act."

Removal and foiling sanctions on agenda

In his remarks, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said that the removal and foiling of sanctions are followed simultaneously.

In a part of this speech regarding the sanctions-lifting negotiations, the President said: "We are looking for the right of the Islamic Republic, what was proposed in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was violated by the Americans, Europe did not fulfill its obligations either, only the Islamic Republic fulfilled its obligations."

Raisi continued: "The International Atomic Energy Agency has officially announced 15 times that Iran's nuclear activities have no deviations. In the negotiations, Iran expressed its words with logic and reasoning, and America should make a decision, but it is delaying and wasting time."

The head of the Supreme National Security Council emphasized: "We are determined to follow the rights of the nation and Iran has the removal and neutralization of sanctions on the agenda at the same time."

At the beginning of this meeting, several OANA union member media managers expressed their views.
