Pontevedra (IP) - Iranian freestyle U-23 wrestling team finished runner-up in the 2022 World Wrestling Championships 2022.

Iran PressEurope: Iranian freestyle wrestlers bagged four gold and one silver medal in the competition held in Pontevedra, Spain.

Georgia won the team title with 141 points.

Iran finished second with 134 points, while the US managed to get third with 112 points.

Iranian U-20 freestyle wrestlers Amir-Hossein Firouzpour and Amir-Reza Masoumi bagged a U-23 world title to their respective age-group gold medals.

Mohammad-Sadeq Firouzpour collected the third gold by overpowering Khadzhimurad Gadzhiyev from Azerbaijan, 5-2, at 74kg weight class.

The fourth gold was bagged by Masoumi, who defeated Solomon Manashvili of Georgia, 13-2, in the 125kg final.

Amir-Mohammad Yazdani lost the 70kg final against U-23 Giorgi Elbakidze of Georgia.

Iran’s Greco-Roman team had won the team title with 138 points, 37 points more than second-placed Georgia.
