Iran Press/ Asia: According to Iran Press, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived at Yerevan airport Thursday at the head of a high-ranking political and parliamentary delegation.
He was welcomed officially by Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan.
During his trip to Yerevan, Amir- Abdollahian will meet with Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and some other officials of this country to consult about the expansion of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran will also participate in the opening ceremony of the first Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kapan, Armenia.
On October 9, Amir- Abdollahian confirmed the establishment of the Iranian consulate at the zero border point of the two countries and stated: "Looking at the economic issues, the development of cooperation with the country of Armenia, as well as the strengthening of the North-South transit route, which is one of the priorities of the 13th government of Iran, it was decided to open the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the capital of "Syunik" province of Armenia."
Iran and Armenia have many connections due to the long-standing relations between the two countries.
This positive history has been compelling in various aspects of the relations between the two countries, despite some problems caused by regional tensions; for this reason, Armenia enjoys a good position in economic and trade ties with Iran among the neighboring countries.
