Iran Press/ Iran News: Kazem Gharibabadi, secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights, made the comment in reaction to the European Union's fresh sanctions on Iran.
Following the US, Canada and the UK, the European Union announced fresh sanctions against Iranian authorities and entities in a show of support for rioters in Iran.
The European Union imposed sanctions on the Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Iran, the morality Police, and the Cyber Department of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps on Monday over alleged human rights violations.
As the media say, the EU put 97 Iranian individuals and 8 Iranian entities on the sanctions list.
In his Twitter account, Gharibabadi noted: "The same European Union which has violated the rights of millions of Iranian civilians due to the implementation of US-orchestrated unilateral and cruel sanctions and sheltered and provided unwavering support to the terrorists who have murdered 17,000 innocent Iranians has now once again put up a pathetic charade by claiming to be defending human rights while simultaneously imposing sanctions on those safeguarding the security and safety of Iranian people against western-backed riots."
