Iran Press/ Iran news: On Wednesday morning, newly-appointed members of the Expediency Discernment Council met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The Leader stated at the meeting: "The Expediency Council is a very valuable council for the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran because it consists of experienced elites which this council can have a comprehensive look at the country's issues. This council has a very elevated and important position in the Islamic Republic system and can continue this position in the future.
The Leader of the Revolution addressed the council and noted: "Among you, there were those who had high administrative, legislative or judicial positions, they know the ground for work and know what administration means, what legislation means, this council has the role of consultation with regard to general policies, which this role should not be underestimated, this is very important."
"As a council, they sit, think, work, check and reach the same results. Consultation is very important; That is, while it is true that what we send to the council has been thought and discussed in advanced, it is very different whether the council endorse or not. That's why we use the council's consultation. Sometimes what is said as advice may not be endorsed, but it creates a new thought and opens a new way for us," Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that one should not have an extreme or excessive view on the issue of general policies because it is wrong to include ideal issues and anything useful for the country as a general policy, as well as detailing and determining some quantities and entering into executive and legislative details.
The Leader of the revolution called the correct definition of general policies "an up-to-date and guiding framework for laws and executive affairs in order to achieve goals" and added that some policies are permanent, but others are specific to a specific period and need to be updated.
He underlined that the movement of the Iranian nation caused the enemy to act desperately in recent riots and advised the officials to be vigilant and not to be distracted by these issues for doing the main and essential tasks.
Referring to the recent unrest, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution called the scattered riots a passive and clumsy design of the enemy against the great and innovative developments and movements of the Iranian nation and emphasized: "As long as the nation is on the path of the Islamic system and religious values, these hostilities will continue and the only way to cure it is to stand still, and the country's officials should also be careful that such issues do not prevent them from their main responsibilities and duties in the domestic and foreign arenas."
