The US has targeted Iran’s interior and communications ministers and several law enforcement leaders for sanctions.

Iran PressAmerica: The US on Thursday imposed more sanctions on Iranian government officials in what is said was in response to the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, as Iranians are holding rallies in response to more than two weeks of violent protests in the country over Amini's death, a young Iranian woman who collapsed when she was at a police station over her non-compliance with the Islamic dress code and later died at a hospital.

In Tehran, demonstrators denounced street violence, saying there are peaceful ways to protest.

The West, and on top of it, the US, have made supportive comments on the riots in Iran, something which these people called tongue-in-cheek remarks made to fuel the turmoil in the country.

US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control designated seven high-ranking leaders for what it said were financial penalties due to the shutdown of Iran’s internet access. Iran’s interior and communications ministers and several law enforcement leaders were targeted for sanctions.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has severely censured the unrest that erupted in some parts of Iran following the death of a young woman, stating that the deadly riots were orchestrated in advance by the United States and the Israeli regime.
