Khoy (IP) - After A 5.4-magnitude earthquake in Khoy city of West Azerbaijan Province, the Red Crescent Society and other relief forces are helping the quake-stricken.

Iran PressIran News: Relief and rescue operations are underway by West Azarbaijan Province Red Crescent Society and other organizations after a 5.4 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale shook the Khoy city of West Azarbaijan Province, northwest of Iran, on Wednesday morning at 03:51:28 am (local time) at 45.01 longitudes and 38.5 latitudes.

The number of injured has reached 1,130, and about 115 have been hospitalized and are undergoing treatment.

The Director-General of the Housing Foundation of the Islamic Revolution in West Azerbaijan Province, Jafar Barzegar, highlighted that 467 residential units were damaged in the quake.

The Iranian Seismological Center, affiliated with the University of Tehran Institute of Geophysics, announced that around 40 aftershocks had been recorded in Khoy city since 4 am on Wednesday.
