Tehran (IP) - Chief of the Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces said on Thursday that Iran will not tolerate changes in the borders of the countries of the region and advises Azerbaijan and Armenia to solve their problems through dialogue.

Iran PressIran News: Major General Bagheri, Chief of the Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, said at the armed forces parade in Tehran on the occasion of the Sacred Defense Week: “The sacred defense proved that in order to live a dignified life and enjoy security, comfort and progress, one must be strong and powerful and must stand and resist. The armed forces, under the measures of the honorable Imam Khomeini and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, learned this great lesson well that it is possible to achieve lofty goals by standing and resisting.”

He continued: “Throughout history, the Iranian nation has proven that it is a peace-loving and friendly nation and has a peaceful relationship and cooperation with the countries of the region and its neighbors. Our military power is to defend the country against arrogant. Of course, this power rushed to help some friendly and neighboring countries to counter terrorists.”

Major General Bagheri noted: “Today, the land, air and sea forces show the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran. A power that can ground enemies. This power of deterrence has created stability, which has provided the basis for the progress of the country and friendly countries. We owe this to the martyrdom of the children of this nation.”

Elsewhere, Major General Bagheri referred to the dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan: “As we have stated many times, we will not tolerate changes in the borders of the countries of the region, and we advise the countries of Azerbaijan and Armenia to solve their problems through dialogue. We will not tolerate  the change of the borders with war and we will not remain silent.”

He addressed the Arab countries along the Persian Gulf and said: “We expect the Persian Gulf countries to watch out for the mischief of the Zionists. The presence of the Zionists in the Persian Gulf is illegal, and we are monitoring all their movements through surveillance and intelligence elites, and if we feel a conspiracy, we will deal with the elements of the regime and their supporters.”

The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces said: “US withdrawal strategy from the region is inevitable and must happen. We want a peaceful and threat-free zone. The US and the Zionist regime are threatening this region. We hope that with the development of cooperation between the countries of the region, we will experience a future without such aggressors in the region.”

Meanwhile, the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stated Wednesday that protecting the internationally-recognized borders and the territorial integrity of countries is an inevitable necessity.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday evening on the recent developments in the South Caucasus region, the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stressed that protecting the internationally-recognized borders and the territorial integrity of countries is an inevitable necessity and any infringement of border is unacceptable and runs contrary to the principles of the international law.

The Islamic Republic of Iran calls on countries of the region to observe good neighborliness and will appropriately and decisively react against the sedition pursued by the Zionist regime and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the region in the form of geopolitical-conspiratorial plans.

In a recent phone talk with the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi underlined that the adherence of the signatories of the tripartite truce declaration to its provisions and solving the remaining issues through dialogue and diplomatic solutions is the best way to create peace and security in the Caucasus region.
