New York (IP) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi announced Tehran's readiness to develop ties with Yerevan further.

Iran PressAmerica: President Raisi made the remarks on Wednesday during separate phone talks with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to congratulate them on Armenia’s National Day.

He stated that in the framework of Iran’s foreign policy of reaching out to the neighboring countries, the Islamic Republic attaches particular significance to promoting relations with the countries in the Caucasus region.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to deepen all-out relations based on the mutual interests with Armenia using the shared historical border,” he said.

He reiterated Iran’s support for the neighboring countries' independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He noted that continued negotiations with them on mutual significance are of prime importance.

President Raisi pointed out that the Iranian and Armenian nations share mutual culture and history and stand by each other on the path to progress.

He expressed hope that Iran and Armenia would cement bilateral relations in line with the interests of the two nations relying on the longstanding ties and taking advantage of the shared historical border.
