Ilam (IP) - The Iranian pilgrims returning from the Arbaeen March are entering the country through the Mehran border cross in Ilam, west of Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Pilgrims from different parts of the world, including Iran, had arrived in Iraq to participate in the ever greatest event in the world, Arbaeen March, walking toward the holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala city.

The Minister of Interior Ahmad Vahidi said public transportation and the armed forces transport vehicles were deployed to transfer the pilgrims to their cities throughout the country. 

Each year, Ilam's people host the Arbaeen pilgrims as they come and return to the country, a hosting ceremony that has turned into a permanent spiritual epic. 

Love for Imam Hussain (AS) has been manifested in the hospitality and altruism of the people hosting the pilgrims returning to the country.  

Saturday, Safar 20 in the Islamic lunar calendar, September 17, is the occasion of Arbaeen, which is 40 days after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala. 

More than three million Iranian pilgrims, along with millions of pilgrims from Iraq and other countries, marked Arbaeen in Iraq’s Karbala on Saturday after undertaking an 80-km walk between the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.
