Iran Press/ Iran news: Referring to the importance of the African continent in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized the serious determination of the Iranian administration to develop relations with this continent, especially with South Africa.
While referring to the preparations for holding the 15th Joint Economic Commission of the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian expressed hope that the many opportunities and capacities of the two countries will be exploited more.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran added: "There has been good cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy for a long time, and we are ready to strengthen cooperation in the fields of interest of both parties."
Amir-Abdollahian also appreciated South Africa's stance on the Palestinian issue and the country's support policy for the oppressed Palestinian people.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated in relation to the war in Ukraine: “We continue our efforts to establish a ceasefire in Ukraine and our principled position is to oppose the war and end the crisis in Ukraine through political means.”
Naledi Pandor, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, also pointed out the important position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its important capacities, while appreciating the efforts to hold a new round of the Joint Economic Commission of the two countries, and emphasized the importance of implementing the agreements of the Joint Commission.
While pointing to the important role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in mediating the Ukraine crisis, South Africa's foreign minister emphasized: “This ceasefire is important for all parties and the international community, because the consequences of this war have caused a food and energy crisis in some countries and we hope that the concerns of Russia and Ukraine will be answered through negotiations.”
He also expressed his hope that Iran's nuclear negotiations will be concluded as soon as possible.
Naldi Pandour, while emphasizing the invitation of the President of her country to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi for an official visit to Pretoria, expressed her hope that the upcoming visit of the Islamic President of Iran to South Africa will be the foundation of a leap in bilateral relations.
