Hyderabad (IP) - A memorandum of understanding was signed between India and Iran for the restoration, preservation, digitization, and cataloging of 33 million documents in Farsi in the Indian state of Telangana.

Iran PressIran news: The presidents of Noor International Microfilm Center of Iran and the Department of Document Archives and Research Center of Telangana State, India, signed the MoU on Wednesday.

Telangana State Archives Research and Documents Center is one of the important historical centers and resources in terms of politics, culture, history, science, and economy.

The history of more than five hundred years of presence of Iranians in Hyderabad and South India and the Shia rulings, along with the presence of Iranian Muslim scholars and scientists, have been important factors in creating political, economic, and cultural developments in South India.

Having about 44 million documents in Farsi, Arabic, and Urdu belonging to the Islamic era, the center is known as the central archive in India, and many other centers are affiliated with it. Today, no historian and archeologist can present a complete and accurate picture of the past and present in the area without considering the role of Iranians and the Iranian Muslim and Shiite rulers.

The effects of the historical presence can be seen in the architecture, language, culture, art, and other aspects of the life of South Indian people. Speaking to Iran Press in Hyderabad, Mehdi Khajeh Piri, the head of Noor International Microfilm Center of Iran, said that the signing of the MoU to restore Farsi documents between Iran and India is the most important cultural event between the two countries, documents that show the centuries-old and historical relations between Iran and India.
