Tehran (IP) - The 21st General Assembly of the National Paralympic Committee was held on Tuesday in Tehran.

Iran PressIran news: The meeting was chaired by Head of the National Olympic and Paralympic Committee of Iran Mahmoud Khosravi-Vafa; the Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth for Professional Sports and Championship Affairs, Mohammad Pooladgar, and a group of heads of sports federations also attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Khosravi-Vafa told reporters about the performance of the Paralympians in the last year: "The most important thing was in the Tokyo Paralympics, where we got the best result; while we sent about 50% fewer athletes than before, we got more medals and our team's position also improved."

"In the youth games in Bahrain, we were usually ranked second, but we finished first," he noted.

"We had a good qualitative growth. Of course, sending fewer athletes does not mean that we recruit fewer athletes, but we appear in important competitions with better quality, and in regional competitions, we use those who can be influential," he added.

In response to the question of whether he will participate in the elections of the National Paralympic Committee or not, he said: "No, it is true that there is no legal restriction for one person to be in two organizations, but it is not recommended."

"The quality of the Olympics and Paralympics require two managers for these organizations, and it is not advisable for one person to act in two positions," he concluded.
