Lebanon (IP) - The Lebanese Amal Movement held a ceremony on the commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the abduction of Imam Musa Sadr.

Iran PressMiddle East: On the sidelines of the ceremony held in Tyre, southern Lebanon, a member of the political committee of Amal movement Sheikh Qabalan told Iran press that Imam Musa Sadr played a key role in reforming the political structure of Lebanon. 

Sheikh Qabalan said: "Today we commemorate the kidnapping anniversary of one of the Islamic icons and the Lebanese national figure who changed the life of Lebanese Shias once and for all, and raised the country to the level of those which have defeated their invaders."

As with the reasons for Imam Musa Sadr's abduction, the member of Amal political committee said he paid the price for his freedom-seeking campaigns. 

Still, a former member of Lebanon's Parliament Zahra el-Khatib introduced Imam Khomeini to Iran Press as the spiritual father of Imam Musa Sadr and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, for he managed to revive Islam's reputation.

"Therefore, Imam Khomeini is the spiritual father of all those who put political, diplomatic, cultural and artistic resistance in the service of armed struggle," al-Khatib added.

Lebanon's Information Ministry’s Director General Hassan Falha told Iran Press that Imam Sadr depicted a perspective beyond the Lebanese borders for the world's oppressed. 

Also, Information Minister Ziad al-Makari highlighted the importance of the national and global character of Imam Musa Sadr. 

The Chief of Lebanon's Organization of Islamic Cooperation told Iran Press that the role Imam Sadr played was not limited to just one group or tribe, noting that he developed a particular way of thinking in different areas, including lifestyle and interactions with others for the Lebanese nation.
