Tehran (IP) - A senior Iranian lawmaker says the Taliban's relations with other countries and also with Iran are not extensive, but due to deep cultural and historical ties between the two nations, it is expected that the Taliban would expand its relations with the Islamic Republic because Afghanistan is Iran's biggest neighbor.

Iran PressIran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of the open session of Parliament on Sunday, Fada-Hossein Maleki said: "Iran and Afghanistan also have issues about the water share of the Hirmand River, and unfortunately, the Taliban has acted against international laws."

Referring to the ups and downs of Afghanistan throughout history, Maleki added Afghanistan had witnessed many changes in its history, but the current situation is very different because now the Taliban has taken power in Afghanistan, and international organizations and countries are opposed them and have not recognized the Taliban so far.

Member of the National Security Committee of the Iranian parliament stressed that the Afghan people are facing a lot of pressure in terms of income, production, and economy.

Maleki pointed out that during this time, the Taliban could not create a consensus within the country because the history and culture of Afghanistan indicate that one nation or movement cannot rule this great Islamic country and lack of consensus makes people worry about civil wars.

He underlined foreign powers are somehow interfering in the issue, and Takfiri movements are flowing through this country.
