Iran Press/ Iran news: Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, on the sidelines of his meeting with the President of Iraqi Defense University for Higher Military Studies Staff Lt. Gen. Saad Mizher Mohsen Al-Alaq, pointed out that Iran and Iraq enjoy many good capacities and commonalities, adding that the countries began mutual cooperation in the defense field.
Nasirzadeh emphasized that the region where Iran and Iraq are located is of prime importance, adding that in addition to their geopolitical position, they have a lot of energy reserves, which has led some politicians in the world and arrogant countries to think of exploiting the resources of the two countries.
He pointed out that ensuring the security and interests of Iran and Iraq requires mutual cooperation, adding that increasing interactions will also enhance economic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad.
For his part, Al-Alaq stressed the "need to strengthen joint cooperation between all regional countries to fight terrorism," indicating that an information exchange center has been set up among Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Russia to boost their cooperation on the international stage.
On July 18, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian discussed during a phone call with his Iraqi counterpart Fouad Hussein some issues of mutual concern in the field of bilateral ties, as well as major developments in the regional arena, most notably regarding talks between Tehran and Riyadh.
