Iran Press/ America: Salman Rushdie was attacked on stage at an event in New York and suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck, according to New York State Police and an eyewitness.
An Associated Press reporter witnessed a man storm the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and begin punching or stabbing Rushdie as he was introduced.
He fell to the floor, and the man was restrained. Rushdie's condition was not immediately known.
