Iran Press/ Asia: A few minutes ago, the domestic satellite "Khayam" was launched into space from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan by a Soyuz satellite in joint cooperation with Russia as Iran's Minister of Communication said the move signals the localization of space technology in the country by transferring knowledge and experience.
In a report, the Iranian Space Agency announced that the Khayyam satellite was launched from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan by a Soyuz satellite Carrier.
According to a broadcast by the Russian state space agency Roscosmos, Russia's Soyuz rocket, carrying Iranian Earth remote sensing satellite Khayyam on the order of Iran, was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on Tuesday.
The Khayyam satellite, which Iran Space Agency owns, will be a suitable infrastructure for smartening different parts of the country, with accurate sensors in different spectrums.
Improving productivity in the field of agriculture, accurate monitoring of Iran's water resources, managing natural hazards, monitoring changes in land use, unauthorized constructions and dealing with deforestation, monitoring environmental hazards, monitoring mines and mineral discoveries, monitoring the borders of the country and many other applications, including applications of data will be received from Khayyam satellite.
The Iranian Space Agency is Iran's governmental space agency.
Iran became an orbital-launch-capable nation in 2009 and is one of the 24 founding members of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, which was set up on 13 December 1958.
Eisa Zarepour, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, who traveled to Kazakhstan on Monday to launch this satellite, announced in a video message last night:
Iran Space Agency, while developing internal capabilities in the field of building and launching satellites needed by the country and growing the relevant ground stations, continues to meet Iran's current needs in the area of providing satellite data through advanced scientific and technological cooperation with leading countries in the world's space industry.
He concluded: " In addition to meeting the needs of Iran, it will accelerate the localization of space technology in the country by transferring knowledge and experience."
