Iran Press/ Middle East: Delivering a speech on Monday, on the occasion of Ashura, Badr el-Din Abdul-Malik al-Houthi referred to the tragedy of Karbala and said that Imam Hussain (AS) rose up to save Islam from the enemies.
Imam Hussein [AS], a grandson of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad [PBUH], and his 72 companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala on Ashura day, in southern Iraq, in 680 AD after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I.
Today, Monday, August 8, 2022, is Muharram 10 or Ashura day, 1444 AH, when Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions were martyred as they stood against then-tyrant Yazid I more than 1,300 years ago.
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi then said that the US and Israeli regime's approach was the extension of the very approach of the enemies of Imam Hussain (AS).
He recalled that the rule of Yazid I was a threat to the Islamic Ummah and noted: " We are an ummah that is being targeted like in the time of Imam Hussain (AS). The US and Israel continue Yazid's approach, and whoever joins them and moves in line with their interests, their situation is like that of Ibn Ziyad and Shamar (Yazid's accomplices)".
The Leader of the Ansarullah Movement referred to some Araba states' normalization of ties with the Israeli regime and said the incompetent Ulamas (Islamic scholars) were seeking to justify the normalization and obedience to the US.
"When the enemies manage to take our Ummah away from the real independence that frees them from subjugation, then they can dominate our Ummah," he said, emphasizing the independence of Yemen from the arrogant powers.
The Yemeni leader also pointed to the two-month extension of ceasefire with the Saudi-led coalition, telling the Saudi regime to use the opportunity and end its aggression on Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition, since the start of the invasion of Yemen in 2015, has killed over 17,000 Yemenis and injured 10,000 others while making millions of civilians homeless.
According to the UN, Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen has caused the world's worst humanitarian disaster.
