Iran's president calls for further cooperation in separate meetings with Japan and Qatar ambassadors on Tuesday.

Iran Press/Asia: President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with new ambassador of Japan to Iran, Mitsuo Saito, stressed the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields of business, economy, energy, petrochemicals, machinery, health, environment and tourism, according to official website of the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Speaking on Tuesday in a meeting with the new Japanese ambassador to Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani said, “Long-standing Iran-Japan relations have always been friendly and the two nations respect each other”.

“Iran and Japan's viewpoints are very similar on many issues, and the visit of the two countries' officials to various international gatherings, especially on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, has always been positive and in line with the development of relations,” he continued.

The president also referred to the issuance of ICJ’s ruling in favour of Iran over the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said, “Despite the US withdrawal, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to comply with its obligations under this agreement, and we will adhere to it until it is in the framework of our national interests”.

Referring to the necessity of all countries' efforts to preserve the JCPOA as an international agreement, Rouhani stated, "The more countries distances themselves from the unreasonable demands of American statesmen, the more the JCPOA and diplomacy will be strengthened".

"We believe that the war and killing of people in Yemen must be ended and that problems and issues should be resolved through a political solution," the president said, saying the Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought tensions and hostility with other countries, especially its neighbours.

Iran's president emphasised the efforts to accelerate the transfer of humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people, referring to the need for the development of Iran-Japan consultations to resolve regional and international issues.

New Ambassador of Japan to Tehran presented his letter of credence to the President and said, “The Japanese Emperor and government are willing to develop amicable Tehran-Tokyo relations and cooperation”.

Referring to the historical, friendly relations of the two countries in various fields, he stated, "Despite the US pressures and sanctions, the Japanese government and companies continue to maintain relations with Iran and they will stay in Iran, because Japanese traders and officials trust in the future of Iran”.

Rouhani also in a meeting with new ambassador of Qatar to Tehran, stated that Iran and Qatar are fully determined to develop relations.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always considered Qatar a friendly, brotherly country and we believe that closer ties between the two countries is beneficial for both nations and the region” Rouhani added.

Speaking on Tuesday Rouhani said, “Today, in different fields, especially in regional issues, the two countries have closer opinions and we should further accelerate this trend”.

Tehran wants full peace and security in the region and the Persian Gulf, he said, adding, “Some countries’ interference in the internal affairs of their neighbouring countries is not acceptable and we believe that the people of Qatar are brave and great, and the Qatari authorities run their country with wisdom”.

“Tehran believes that nobody has the right to decide for the people and the government of Qatar,” added Rouhani.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes closer ties between Tehran and Doha and we hope that we witness further development of relations between the two countries in your term of office,” he continued.

Mohammad Sa'd al-Fahid al-Hajari, new ambassador of Qatar to Tehran presented his credentials to the President and said, “Qatar is making serious attempts to develop relations with Iran to serve the interests of the two nations”.
