Iran Press/America: Iran's Vice President, Mohammad Hosseini, left Tehran for Bogota to attend the inauguration ceremony of new Colombian President Gustavo Petro.
Hosseini's arrival in Colombia was welcomed by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Colombia and Iranian Charge d'affaires in Latin America.
Gustav Peter, a newly elected Colombian leftist politician, is the first President of the country who is very critical of US policies.
Hosseini met with the Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos Alberto Franco Franca upon his arrival.
He told the Brazilian FM that the two countries had numerous capacities in economic, scientific, and cultural areas, which could be activated in the two nations' interests.
Hosseini also stressed the implementation of the existing agreements signed between the two countries.
Brazil's foreign minister França said: "We are determined to shore up our relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in different areas, including political and economic areas.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated Gustavo Petro, the president-elect of Colombia, on his victory and wished progress and prosperity for the Colombian people and success for Petro.
