Balkh (IP) – Taliban's Balkh police chief announced the demolition of an ISIS hideout in Mazar-i-Sharif and said an ISIS element who was plotting to attack a Shia religious site was apprehended.

Iran PressAsia: The spokesman for the Taliban's Balkh police chief, Mohammad Asif Waziri, stated that a clash had broken out between ISIS elements and Taliban security forces in the fourth district of Mazar-i-Sharif and went on for half an hour.

He highlighted that the conflict erupted after the ISIS terrorist plotted to attack a Tekiye in the 10th district of Mazar Sharif city.

Takyeh or Tekiye is a building where Shia Muslims gather to mourn Imama Hosain's martyrdom in the Muharram month.

During the conflict, the ISIS element was injured and arrested, and two others managed to escape the scene, Waziri noted.

He added that afterward, the hideout in the fourth district, Mazar-i-Sharif, was discovered and annihilated.

Waziri also pointed out that a security force had also been killed in the conflict.
