Tehran (IP) - An Iranian Foreign Ministry official says Tehran and Moscow are working towards making an interbank payments system like SWIFT as a countermeasure in the face of Western sanctions.

Iran PressIran News: In an interview with Sputnik, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister on Economic Diplomacy, Mehdi Safari, stated that Iran and Russia, which seek to de-dollarize their transactions, should have a payments system like SWIFT.

He highlighted that the two sides had presented a proposed system each and had reached an agreement to implement such a system.

He announced that the Russian payment system 'MIR' would soon be launched in Iran.
