On Friday, the Iranian men's basketball team beat Japan 88-76 in Indonesia's 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.

Iran PressAsia: Iran's national basketball team is pitted in group C against Japan, Syria, and Kazakhstan. The team is going to compete with the winner of the match between Jordan and Chinese Taipei in the next round.

NBA player Yuta Watanabe put up 17 points and ten rebounds to lead the way for the Japanese, who found no answer for the big three of Hamed Haddadi, Behnam Yakhchali, and Mohammad Jamshidi. Haddadi chalked up 21 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks, Yakhchali tallied 21 points and five rebounds, while Jamshidi chimed in 20 points as Iran clinched an outright quarterfinal berth with a 3-0 slate.

On Wednesday, the Iranian men's national basketball team defeated Syria in its opening match in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.

For its first match in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup in Indonesia, Iran's national basketball team played against Syria on Wednesday and won its rival 80 to 67. The Iranian squad played with Kazakhstan on Friday for its second match and beat Kazakhstan 96-60.

Indonesia's 2022 FIBA Asia Cup basketball tournament is currently underway in Jakarta. 

Australia, Bahrain, China, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lebanon, New Zealand, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Indonesia, are the 16 teams present in the tournament.
