Tehran (IP) - Head of Belarus parliamentary friendship group said that Iran is one of Belarus’ essential trade partners in the region.

Iran PressIran news: Andrei Savinyh, chairman of Belarusian Parliament's International Commission, who heads the country's group of parliamentary friendship with Iran, met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari in Tehran on Thursday.

The Belarus-Iran parliamentary friendship group at the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus visited Tehran on 11-14 July. 

Chairman of Belarusian Parliament's International Commission also met Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, Reza Fatemi-Amin.

Andrei Savinyh met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari in Tehran on Thursday.

The two discussed bilateral relations between Iran and Belarus and the process of increasing cooperation, and ways to expand ties.

Savinyh underscored supporting governmental and private economic plans by the parliaments of both countries in line with activating the role north-south corridor in their trade.

He referred to growing economic cooperation, significantly strengthening bilateral transit ties, the need to bolster further the north-south economic corridor that passes through Iranian soil, and the industrial and agricultural economies of Iran and Belarus that complement each other.

Savinykh further underlined support for state and private economic projects by the two countries' parliaments.

Safari, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, also pointed to the Tehran-Minsk agricultural ties, transit of Belarusian-made products through Iranian ports, Iran's railroad routes and land roads to third countries, exchange of new technologies, a joint production of different industrial, pharmaceutical and medical products.

He underscored the necessity of taking practical measures to expand economic cooperation.

Iran's deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy noted that the 15th Iran-Belarus joint economic commission would be soon held, describing the event as a turning point in cooperation between the two sides.

Safari added that the commission's holding is a critical factor in boosting the economic relations between Iran and Belarus.

He stressed that the 15th Iran-Belarus joint economic commission plays an operational role in removing the existing obstacles in the way of economic ties.

Savinykh visited Iran at the head of a parliamentary delegation. During his 2-day stay, he held meetings with different legislative and executive officials in Iran, discussing the state of bilateral ties between Tehran and Minsk.
