Tehran(IP) - Foreign Ministry Spokesman asked the Swedish government to look through the legal window to provide the necessary basis to free Hamid Nouri, the Iranian citizen, as soon as possible.

Iran PressIran News: Hamid Nouri", an Iranian citizen, was arrested by Sweden's security forces on November 9, 2019, upon his arrival to Sweden to follow up on family issues.

Nouri has been in prison in Sweden for over 30 months.

Nasser Kanani, in his first press conference on Wednesday and response to the Iran Press, said: "The condition of  Iranian citizen Hamid Noori is important, so Iran's  Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pursuing this matter seriously in order to protect its citizens." 

He stated: "Arresting the Iranian citizen has no judicial basis, and only the hostile environment has provided the basis for the illegal arrest of this Iranian citizen."Kanani added: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in contact with the Swedish side, and also, during the phone call between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and his Swedish counterpart, it has been stressed to respect the legal and basic rights of citizens, including the access to a doctor and a lawyer, and to be in contact with his family."

In the end, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson said: "The Swedish government is expected to put aside its political views and investigate the situation of this Iranian citizen from a legal point of view."
