Hamid Nouri

Tehran (IP) - The Vice-Speaker of Iran's Parliament called Sweden to pay the Iranian Hamid Nouri material and spiritual damages.

Iran PressIran News: "Hamid Nouri", an Iranian citizen, was arrested by Sweden's security forces on November 9, 2019, upon his arrival to Sweden to follow up on family issues.

After his arrest, against all international laws, Nouri was not allowed to contact his family for four months, and the Swedish judicial system also did not allow Nouri, who is kept in solitary confinement, to meet his family in person for two years. This is while his family traveled to Sweden several times to meet him, but it was not possible to meet him.

Expressing the Iranian parliament's concern about the violations of human rights in the case of Hamid Nouri, The Vice-Speaker of Iran's Parliament  Ali Nikzad said that the Swedish government arrested the Iranian citizen without conducting a comprehensive investigation, just based on the claims of some Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) members.

He said that the Swedish government did not fulfill its responsibility under the 1963 Vienna Convention by the virtue of which it must notify Iran's Embassy of the arrest, nor did it notify his family about that.

Nouri has been in prison in Sweden for over 30 months.
