Tehran (IP)- Thousands of Bosnians attended the funeral of 50 newly identified victims of genocide in the Srebrenica to mark the 27th anniversary of the event.

Iran PressEurope: In July 1995, at least 8,000 Bosniak males from Srebrenica were separated by Serb troops from their wives, mothers and sisters, chased through woods around the eastern town, and killed by those forces.

The perpetrators plowed their victims’ bodies into hastily made mass graves which they later dug up with bulldozers and scattered among other burial sites to hide the evidence of the crime. 

27 The twenty-seventh anniversary of the genocide of the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in the Potocari cemetery. 

On July 11, 2022, a ceremony was held to commemorate the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, which is considered the most prominent human tragedy in Europe after World War II. 

This ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials and ambassadors of the countries. The attendees paid their respects to the victims at the ceremony by presenting flower crowns. 

Also, at the end of the ceremony, the remains of 50 victims were buried in the cemetery after the funeral prayer. 

The bodies of another 50 victims of the Srebrenica were buried today, coinciding with its 27th anniversary. The youngest body buried was 16 years old, and the oldest one was 59 years old; the number of buried victims of the Srebrenica Genocide increased to 6721 people.
