In a message to the Prime Minister of Japan on Friday night, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed his condolences to the Japanese government and nation over the death of Shinzo Abe, the former Prime Minister of this country in an inhumane terrorist attack.

Iran PressIran News: In his message to the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the Iranian president said that the assassination of Shinzo Abe, the former Japanese prime minister, in an inhumane armed attack was saddening.

“That late politician was a great politician for the Japanese people and an international personality, who played an important role in broadening the historical relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan,” added the president.

He also expressed sympathy and condoled with the Japanese prime minister, his cabinet members, and the friendly Japanese nation.

Earlier, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian top diplomat said: "We condemn the assassination of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe and offer condolences to the friendly people and government of Japan over his departure."

He added that the precious services of Mr. Abe, as a prominent politician, including the expansion of ties between the people of Japan and Iran, will not be forgotten.

Shinzo Abe, the former prime minister of Japan, was shot and seriously wounded while giving a speech in the city of Nara, west of this country, and died in the hospital.219
