Tehran (IP) – Iranian Olympian and Bronze medalist in London 2012 Olympic Games, Komeil Ghasemi, received his gold medal after ten years due to positive doping tests of the gold and silver medal winners.

Iran PressIran news: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) sent a letter to the President of Iran’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) Reza Salehi-Amiri last year, announcing the completion of the doping investigation of the Uzbek athlete Arthur Taymazov and the Georgian athlete Davit Modzamanashvili.

According to the international relations director at NOC, Farid Fattahian, Salehi-Amiri received Ghasemi’s gold medal during his trip to Lausanne, Switzerland.

Initially the third-place holder in 120 kg of London 2012, Komeil Ghasemi is now officially considered the gold medalist and the most decorated heavyweight wrestles in Iran’s history.
