Iran Press/ Iran news: A magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Paktika and Khost provinces in southeastern Afghanistan has killed and injured thousands, leaving people without shelter and basic necessities in dire straits.
Rainfall has doubled the difficulty of living in the quake-hit areas of Afghanistan, especially in the Gyan district of Paktika province. The inaccessibility of some areas has also slowed the process of providing ground aid to earthquake-stricken areas in southeastern Afghanistan.
The Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran has so far sent three consignments of humanitarian aid to the earthquake-stricken areas of Afghanistan. The scale of the devastation is so great that the people of earthquake-stricken Afghanistan need the international community's help.
Meanwhile, public donations (cash and non-cash) are being collected in Afghanistan, and people from the provinces around the quake-hit areas of Paktika and Khost have reached out to help their compatriots.
