Iran Press/ Middle East: At the beginning of the meeting, Ali Karimian, Secretary-General of the Islamic Radio, Television Union, delivered his inaugural speech. Also, in this meeting, "Ebrahim Farhat", the director of the Al-Manar network, was elected as the council chairman.
The meeting will end on Saturday.
The Islamic Radios and Televisions Union was established with the effort and initiative of a number of radio and television networks and media institutions in June 2007 to create a strong and cohesive Islamic media bloc based on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to confront false and malicious propaganda of enemies of Islam and dissemination of accurate and comprehensive information.
Today, the Union, having more than 210 members from 35 countries and five continents, is the largest Media Union in terms of membership, geographical coverage, religious, political, and linguistic diversity, and membership of radios, televisions, and media institutions, and news agencies.
The primary purpose of the Union is to use media to defend the sanctities and interests of the Islamic Ummah and support the rights and fair demands of Islamic communities and countries and share productions and experiences among the members.
