Tehran (IP) - The Iranian President described the loss of a number of Afghan people in the tragic earthquake as heartbreaking and sad and has stressed that the Iranian nation and administration are with them and will spare no effort to help the Afghan people in this great tragedy.

Iran PressIran news: In a message of condolence to the Muslim nation of Afghanistan on the loss of a number of Afghans in the earthquake, Ebrahim Raisi said: "I have given a mission to the Red Crescent Society to be as active as possible in the process of helping the earthquake victims. The people and the administration of Iran are by your side and will fulfill the neighborliness' obligations in the face of his great affliction."

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran added in this message: "The news of the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan and the death of a number of Muslim people of Afghanistan was heartbreaking. I offer my condolences to the people of Afghanistan for this tragic incident and ask for God's mercy, and forgiveness for the victims."

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake shook the city of Khost in southeastern Afghanistan yesterday morning. According to statistics, this incident has had 2,500 casualties so far.
