Two people were killed and five were injured in a drive-by shooting at a family barbecue at a San Antonio home late Saturday, the latest in a string of deadly mass shootings that have rocked the United States, authorities said.

Iran PressAmerica: A family was having a barbecue in front of a house when a vehicle drove by and shots were fired, San Antonio Police Department Chief of Police William McManus said in a news conference just after midnight Saturday.

McManus added that "about 20 to 30 rounds" were unloaded.

Five of the people shot were males, while the other two were females, ages ranging from 20-to-mid 40s, McManus said. Six children were present at the barbecue, but they were not in front of the house when the shooting occurred, he said.

Identities of those injured and killed were not released.

Authorities did not have any description of the possible suspect or suspects as of early Sunday morning. The identity of the vehicle used was also unknown.

McManus said the investigation is still in its early stages, but investigators have "a couple of theories" for the motive of the shooting.
