Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Minister says his country has no restrictions on the development of relations with the Republic of Croatia and the parliaments of the two countries play an important role in supporting joint relations.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with the chairman and members of the Croatian parliamentary delegation in Tehran on Saturday.

Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the influential position of parliamentary diplomacy and balanced foreign policy in President Ebrahim Raisi's administration and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no restrictions on developing relations with the Republic of Croatia and the parliaments of the two countries play an important role in supporting relations between the two countries.

He further noted the importance of improving the level of trade and economic relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the fifth round of the meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Croatia would be held soon.

He also discussed the latest status of the negotiations on the lifting of the sanctions on Iran. 

Also, in this meeting, Zlatko Hasanbegović, Chairman of Croatia's Parliamentary Friendship Group between Iran and the European country, while expressing satisfaction with the trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran, noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the first Asian country to recognize Croatia's independence.

Hasanbegović also mentioned the exchange of views and talks with Iranian officials on the development of relations between the two countries as one of the goals of the Croatian parliamentary delegation.

The Croatian parliamentary delegation, referring to the ancient history and many cultural commonalities between the two nations of Iran and Croatia, expressed its readiness to support the relations between the two countries and sign a document on cultural cooperation.
