National Museum of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense, in order to acquaint domestic and foreign audiences, especially the younger generation and future generations, with the culture and values of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense (Iran–Iraq War)*, stablished by the Municipality of Tehran in 2010 with an area of 220,000 square meters.
This museum in the new management period, to present the special features of the discourse of the Islamic Revolution and the holy defense; In addition to conducting extensive studies, with the presence of a large number of elites and thinkers in various fields of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense and predicting 56 conceptual and developmental reforms and re-engineering in the eight halls, the creation of new specialized museums including the "Islamic Revolution" museums. "Resistance", "Tehran's role in the holy defense", "The role of women in the holy defense" and the "Children and Adolescents" section have received serious attention.
* Holy Defense: The Iran–Iraq War was a protracted armed conflict that began on 22 September 1980 with a full-scale invasion of Iran by neighbouring Iraq. The war lasted for almost eight years, and ended in a stalemate on 20 August 1988, when Iran accepted Resolution 598 of the United Nations Security Council.
