Tajikistan (IP) - The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said the best way to get rid of the US-cooked crises in the region was to shore up regional cooperation.

Iran PressAsia: Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, arrived in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on Thursday morning to attend the fourth regional security dialogue meeting and was welcomed by the Deputy National Security Council of Tajikistan and Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Mohammad Taghi Saberi.

Meeting with his Tajik counterpart Nasrollah Mahmoudzadeh on Thursday, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani referred to Tehran-Dushanbe's will to develop relations and stressed removing the existing obstacles to promoting ties by sharing views and efforts.

Admiral Shamkani also emphasized the Iran-Tajikistan cooperation over the issue of Afghanistan and the expedition of implementing agreements reached between Tehran and Dushanbe. 

Tajikistan's Secretary of National Security Council, for his part, referred to the visit of the Chief of the Joint Staff of Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Bagheri, and called it a new chapter of defense relations between the two countries. 

Nasrollah Mahmoudzadeh also pointed to Afghanistan's issue and said that one of his country's concerns was the maintenance of security in the joint borders with Afghanistan: "Unfortunately, terrorist groups are very active in Afghanistan, and the Afghan ruling system is not sensitive about their activities that causes insecurity."

Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has traveled to Tajikistan to attend the Fourth Regional Security Dialogue.
