New York(IP): Iran's envoy to United Nations wrote a letter to the organization's secretary general to condemn the assassination of martyr Hassan Sayad Khodae.

Iran PressAmerica: On Sunday, Martyr Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, an IRGC Colonel of Defenders of the Holy Shrines, was assassinated in an armed attack by two motorcyclists Mojahedin-e-Eslam Street in Tehran.

In a letter to the UN Secretary-General, Majid Takht-e Ravanchi, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, said: "The condemnation of this action by the United Nations is considered as part of the organization's duties in the real and non-discriminatory fight against terrorism."

According to the Iran Press, the letter of Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, state:

I am writing to you regarding the cowardly assassination on May 22, 2022, of Martyr Sayyad Khodaei, a member of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran who was active and influential in the fight against Terrorism and ISIS".

Preliminary estimates and the available primary evidence indicate that this terrorist act is a continuance of systematic and network assassinations against innocent citizens and Iranian scientists as one of the main tools to advance illegitimate intentions in the foreign policy of some regimes.

"To commit such acts is contrary to the Charter of the United Nations, the principles of international law and fundamental human rights, and is undoubtedly a serious threat to regional and international peace and stability, the consequences of which will be with the supporters of terrorists.", the letter added.

The persistence of this type of state terrorism has openly challenged the rule of law and has caused growing concern in the international community. Hence, silence in the face of such a provocative and norm-breaking act will encourage the perpetrators of the assassination in their wrong way to continue these shameful acts, which are against international law.

Elsewhere the letter added that the international community should be seriously concerned about the dangerous consequences of such terrorist acts on maintaining international peace and security and strongly condemn such brutal assassinations against citizens of other countries by the well-known state terrorism of some regimes.

At the same time, Takht-e Ravanchi emphasized that as a country that has been the victim of Terrorism and the leading one in the practical and severe confrontation with Terrorism in the region, such terrorist acts not only undermine the policy and determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has always been at the forefront of the fight against Terrorism but also will strengthen our resolve to continue the fight against Terrorism in the region.

In addition, we will take all necessary measures to protect the people and our interests, and we will use all available mechanisms to hold the perpetrators of this terrorist crime and their supporters accountable.

Investigations into the perpetrators of this terrorist act continue intensively. The condemnation of this act by the United Nations is part of the organization's duties in the natural and non-discriminatory fight against Terrorism.

According to Iran Press, at around 4 pm on Sunday, near Mojahedin-e-Islam Street in southern Tehran, two motorcyclists shot and assassinated one of the defenders of the shrine, Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, when he was about to enter his house.

The holy body of this martyr was buried next to Hadi Taremi, the bodyguard of Lt Gen Haj Qasem Soleimani.
