Tehran (IP) - Iran and Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Ministers stressed expanding economic cooperation, particularly in energy, transportation, and transit.

Iran PressIran news: Vafa Hajief, Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister, held talks with Mehdi Safari, on the sidelines of the ECO conference in Tehran.

In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views over expanding economic cooperation, particularly in energy, transportation, and transit.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy said the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to boost cooperation with Turkmenistan in oil, gas, electricity, and gas swap and their transit.

Safari noted that Iran also is prepared to facilitate transportation via the north-south corridor.

In the meeting, Turkmenistan's deputy foreign minister, for his part, underlined his country's readiness to increase trade exchanges and continue contacts to expand ties with Iran.

In this regard, Turkmen Ambassador to Iran Ahmed Gurbanov visited the Incheh Borun railway and the Atrak customs crossing on the Iran-Turkmenistan border.
