FIFA World Cup 2022:

Cameroon's head coach has set a target of reaching the semifinals at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Iran PressAfrica: In 1990, Cameroon became the first African nation to reach the quarterfinal of the FIFA World Cup before losing to England in extra time. Since then, the team has never made it out of the group stage.

"Our goal is at least the semifinals,"  Rigobert Song said in an interview published on Tuesday by Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

Cameroon are drawn in a group with Brazil, Serbia, and Switzerland. Song said it was "a very strong group," stressing that Brazil, who ranked first in the latest FIFA world rankings, were a real threat.

"But Cameroon remains Cameroon and we are determined to show that we did not qualify for the World Cup by chance. And then, we know quite well some of our adversaries, especially Brazil, which Cameroon has already beaten in the past," he said.
