Tehran (IP) – Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced the arrest of two French nationals who practiced espionage operations and sought to foment chaos in Iran.

Iran PressIran News: The Iranian Intelligence Ministry stated on Tuesday that its forces had apprehended two French spies, Cécile Kohler, 37, and Jacques Paris, 69, for attempting to provoke chaos and social disorder in Iran during teachers' protests.

The two French nationals came to Iran on April 28, 2022, as tourists but turned out to be spies for the Western agencies.

They attempted to foment instability and social disorder earlier this month when some teachers conducted peaceful protests and took to the streets to demand fair wages and better working conditions; the Intelligence Ministry pointed out.

In January, Benjamin Brière, another French national, was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment on spying charges after he had photographed prohibited areas with a drone.

Also, in a relevant development last month, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry arrested three agents cooperating with Mossad in the southern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.
