Iran Press/ Iran News: The ECO Tourism Capital 2022 commenced in Sari on Tuesday, May 10, for two days.
The ECO secretary-general, ambassadors and diplomats of the member countries, and Iranian tourism bodies attended the event, which follows a discussion about expanding the tourism industry in ECO member states.
In the meeting, the Belarusian Ambassador to Tehran, Dmitry Koltsov, stated that good views were exchanged about cooperation.
Referring to Gomel in southeast Belarus and Sari in northern Iran, which have become sister cities, Koltsov called for upgrading economic relations between the two cities.
He noted that video conferences would help better understand the two cities’ needs.
"Belarus is an importer of many Iranian products; meanwhile, trade exchange between the two countries will increase through further planning," the ambassador said.
Mazandaran Governor-General Mahmoud Hosseinipour, for his part, pointed out that forming a working group could help recognize the needs and ways to meet them.
Hosseinipour referred to the US' harsh sanctions against Russia and other countries, which are in the same direction with it, and said that the sanctions had inflicted problems for the people of those countries.
The Iranian official further welcomed developing trade relations with Gomel.
Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are the ECO member states.
