The spokesman for the European Union's Foreign Action Service on Tuesday issued a statement condemning the Israeli regime's illegal decision to expand settlements in the West Bank.

Iran PressEurope: The European Union on Tuesday condemned an Israeli court ruling authorizing the expulsion of more than 1,000 Palestinians to make way for a military training zone.

“The Israeli Supreme Court last week (May 4) issued a decision on the eviction of Masafer Yatta in the South Hebron Hills in the occupied West Bank, raising the risk of the forcible transfer of approximately 1,200 Palestinians and the demolition of their homes. ” a spokesperson for the bloc said in a statement.

“Settlement expansion, destruction and evictions are illegal under international law. The EU condemns such potential plans and urges Israel to end demolitions and evictions, in line with its obligations under international humanitarian and international human rights law.”

After the occupation of the West Bank and al-Quds in 1967 by Israel, more than 250 Jewish settlements were built in these areas, where about 650,000 Jews live. According to the principles of international law, their residence in these settlements, which were built in the occupied territories, is illegal.

It is worth mentioning that the Palestinians demonstrate almost every Friday in different parts of the West Bank in protest of the Israeli settlement and the construction of the retaining wall, and are attacked by the Israeli regime's forces. 219
