Palestine (IP) - Israeli troops attacked Al-Aqsa Mosque today, Friday, and injured 40 other Palestinian worshippers by firing rubber bullets at them.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Al-Aqsa mosque has become a tinderbox over several days, with the Zionist regime authorities raiding the mosque and clashing with Palestinian protesters there.

Last Friday, April 15, the Israeli regime's troops attacked the Palestinian worshipers gathered in Al-Aqsa Mosque, firing rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades at them during the assault in the early morning. 

Following the Israeli forces' attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, at least 152 Palestinian people were injured, and 400 were arrested. 

The regime's forces stormed into Al-Aqsa Mosque's courtyards on Friday, April 22, and a clash was instigated between the people there and the Israeli troops. The Israeli troops severely injured 40 Palestinians.

The attack came as Palestine's Hamas said last day that the repetition of the assaults would never lead to the temporal and spatial separation of the holy mosque or the distortion of its Islamic identity.

Hamas called on people to participate in I'tikaf* rituals n Al-Aqsa Mosque to protect the mosque against the Israeli plots and demanded other countries support the Palestinian nation.

*I'tikaf is an Islamic ritual. In I'tikaf, people go to mosques and stay there for some days to worship God.
