Iran Press/ Asia: People in New Delhi say the government is transforming from a constitutional democracy to a Hindu hegemonic state.
The Indian government recently shot down the central bureau of Islamic propagators and accused Muslims of spreading the coronavirus in the country. The authorities claimed that the corona health protocols were not observed there.
Politicians of the opposition parties in India also accused Narendra Modi's right-wing party, Bharatiya Janata Party, of escalating tensions between the Indian majority and Muslims in different parts of the country.
The leaders of 13 opposing parties also issued a joint statement, calling for peace and ending sectarian conflicts.
They expressed dissatisfaction over the government's deliberate discrimination related to food, clothing, religion, festivals, and language to polarize the Indian society.
Earlier the government decided to deny the citizenship of the Muslim Indians. Yet, it has adopted a new citizenship law according to which the non-Muslim Pakistanis and Bangladeshis could apply for citizenship.
Following the adoption of the law, there were many protests by Muslims, which were suppressed violently.
