Raisi to Fuad Hussein:

Tehran (IP)- Iran's President tells the Iraqi Foreign Minister that the Islamic Republic advocates a strong, united, and honorable Iraq.

Iran PressIran news: The Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in Tehran on Wednesday to meet with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian as well as other top officials. This is the second visit of Fuad Hussein to Iran after Iran's presidential election.

Receiving the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Thursday, Iran President, Ebrahim Raisi stressed that the Iraqi people and officials themselves must generate security for their country and that the presence of the foreign troops on their soil would not bring security to them.

Raisi stressed that Tehran seriously expected the neighboring countries, especially Iraq, not to allow the presence of any group threatening the security of Iran, either in areas controlled by the federal government or in areas controlled by the Kurdistan Region.

"Iran is closely monitoring the movements of the Zionist regime; cooperation with this child-killing regime cannot be covered up, and we will not allow them to endanger the security of the region through any country, including Iraq," he pointed out.

The Iraq Foreign Minister, for his part, said that not only does Iraq know itself as a neighbor of Iran but also an ally and friend of the country.

Fuad Hussein noted: "Iraq will never be a place to act against Iran's security, and we are ready to cooperate extensively, including in the field of security, to prevent any threat to Iran's interests."

In 2014, the ISIS terrorist group, with the financial and military support of the United States and its Western and Arab allies, including Saudi Arabia, invaded Iraq, occupying large parts of the northern and western parts of the country and committing countless crimes. Iraq subsequently called on Iran to help Baghdad fight these terrorists.

On November 17, 2017, Iraqi forces, with the advisory assistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, succeeded in liberating the city of Rawa in Anbar province, western Iraq, the last ISIS base in Iraq. With the liberation of this city, ISIS was totally defeated in Iraq.
