Israeli forces Wednesday evening detained 16 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local sources.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Zionist regime forces rounded up a Palestinian after stopping him at a checkpoint near Jericho. The detainee was identified as a resident of 'Aqqaba town, northeast of Jenin.

They also detained another as he was heading to his workplace in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, as confirmed by the Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office in Tubas, Kamal Bani-Odeh.

In the southern West Bank, heavily-armed soldiers showed up at a house in the southern part of Hebron city, muscled inside, ransacked it, and ultimately re-arrested a former prisoner, according to Taha Abu Hussein, a journalist.

Meanwhile, Israeli police detained three Palestinians from various parts of the occupied city of Jerusalem al Quds.

One of the detainees was identified as a resident of the Issawiya neighborhood and another as a resident of the al-Tur neighborhood.

In Ramallah and al-Bireh district, shortly before the Iftar time, several military vehicles stormed Kobar village, northwest of the city, where soldiers rounded up five others, including a father along with his three sons.

They also barged their way into Silwad town, north of Ramallah, surrounded a house, broke into it, and eventually detained three others.

The raids into Kobar and Silwad triggered confrontations. No injuries were reported though.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under the Zionist regime's military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
