Iran Press/ Iran news: In 2004, Tehran and Yerevan signed a 20-year gas and electricity purification agreement, according to which Iran's exported gas will be consumed by power plants in Armenia, and in return, Iran will import electricity from Armenia. Armenia has been importing gas from Iran since the middle of the year.
According to Iran press, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Minister of Energy of Iran, during a meeting with Adviser to the Armenian Prime Minister Artashes Tumanyan, in Tehran, referring to the excellent relations between the two countries, said that the 13th Iranian administration emphasized on developing relations with neighboring countries. These relationships are increasing every day.
Introducing Iran's capability, Mehrabian stressed the need to prepare the ground for a meeting between the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Prime Minister of Armenia.
During the meeting, Artashes Tumanyan, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia, discussed important issues of cooperation with Iran, constructive decisions for the development of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the energy sector with the Iranian Chairman of the Joint Cooperation Commission.
The two sides also stressed the need to coordinate the holding of the 17th Iran-Armenia Joint Cooperation Summit hosted by the Armenian side on April 9-12, and said that the summit was important for the development of relations between the two countries in the framework of energy.
