Tehran (IP) - Soutli Polo (milked rice) is one of the local dishes of Ardabil, which the locals often prepare for Iranian New Year, Nowruz.

Iran PressIran news: Since "Soutli Polo" is very special, it is also considered for Iftar and Sahar meals during the holy month of Ramadan.

The simple and nutritious food tastes much more delicious with smoked fish, tuna, or any other type of fish, and mainly with raisins, or dates.

Raisins are full of antioxidants and like grapes contain iron, which benefits cardiovascular health and bones, and also, are a good source for fiber.

"Soutli Polo" in Azeri means milk and rice that is cooked with milk.

Ingredients:

4 cups rice
4 cups milk
Rose 1 ounce
1-ounce saffron
Raisins 1/2 cup

Butter as needed

How to cook:

Let the rice soak for 1 hour, with a little salt, then add milk to rice and put on heat, when it boils, add saffron, turmeric, and rose water(Golab).

When the milk dried, brew it for about 45 minutes in gentle heat, garnish it with melted butter and raisins.
