Tehran (IP) - Iran says the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must end political allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran over PMD.

Iran PressIran News: The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the country has answered either the questions or the allegations over the IAEA-cooked PMD (Possible Military Dimensions) about the nuclear program of Iran.

The IAEA pressure on Iran over PMD comes as Western countries such as the US, France, and the UK regularly upgrade their nuclear arsenal, while the Hiroshima and Nagasaki tragedy indelibly being etched on the world's historical memory.

Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Sunday that the questions about PMD must not turn into a channel to for the IAEA to put political pressures on Iran.

With regards to the Vienna talks ongoing over the JCPOA, Khatibzadeh said the negotiating parties reached a point where, instead of further talks, they needed to make political decisions in their European capitals.

Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

The eighth round of sanctions talks begun in Vienna on December 27 is ongoing in Vienna, after a short break, this time without the US.

"If the parties involved respect and observe legitimate red lines of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and make political decisions, they can be assured that in the shortest possible time an agreement will be reached," he noted.

Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the US time and again has called for direct talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran and that the country has announced such talks lacks clarity.

Simultaneously with the new rounds of the JCPOA talks in Vienna, Biden's administration imposed new sanctions on Iranian persons, organizations as his predecessor Donald Trump did so when in power.
